About the UCSB Cotillion Dance Club

Who We Are

The Cotillion Dance Club is a student organization at UCSB that teaches Ballroom, Latin, and social dancing, and many other forms of partnership dancing, in addition to providing opportunities for social dancing and performative art.

We have weekly meetings which include beginner friendly dance lessons and social dancing. We also have competition practices geared toward improving styling and techniques for those who enjoy a little friendly competition.

No partner or dance experience is necessary!

We dance a lot, and we socialize a lot. So come on in for a lesson and some dancing!

Meeting Times

During Summer: Every Tuesday & Thursday from 8pm-10pm, in room 2320 of Rob Gym

During the school year: Every Tuesday & Thursday from 9pm to 11pm, in room 2120 of Rob Gym on Tuesdays, and room 2320 of Rob Gym on Thursdays.

Our Tuesday/Thursday meetings consist of two back-to-back dance lessons, followed by social dancing and practice time. Please see our sign me up page for information on how to join us and our calendar for information on where we meet.

Membership Details

Membership with the UCSB Cotillion Dance Club is only $22 for UCSB students, and $48 for non-students. That’s over 60 hours of dancing, for only $22! We had our math majors crunch some numbers, and after some incredibly complex calculations, we worked out that you’d be paying $0.37 ($0.80 for non-students) per hour of dancing! Talk about a good deal.

Club members also enjoy other benefits too!

  • Intermediate & advanced weekend workshops
  • Officer voting privileges
  • Competition practice time and extra help
  • Free admission to our club-hosted themed-dances. We throw some big parties!
